Today, gender discrimination still affects many young people all over the world. Our gender and the way we choose to express ourselves cannot be allowed to have an impact in the educational systems or at our workplace. We need to find solutions to encourage gender-sensitive approaches, fight stereotypes and ensure equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender, in all areas of life.

How many things do you know about your social rights? What is their importance and to which degree are they respected?
A lot of young people are discriminated, each and every day encountering new problems based on the people’s prejudice. The new migration waves created social barriers and challenges regarding inclusion in the community. The young people who are rejected do not have the same chance in nowadays’ society and they are many times ignored or even shunned, a thing that needs to change in order for society to evolve into something better.

How do I select relevant and valid information? How can I avoid being a mindless sheep chewing everything I’m fed?
Today’s world offers young people multiple ways to instantly inform themselves about almost anything. The internet and traditional media - like TV – often serve as the main sources of keeping up to date with modern society. Critically analyzing and discerning true information is a must nowadays. These skills also need to be backed up by open-minded and respectful engagement in conversations, such as to lead to a truly constructive and useful dialogue.

High stress, anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses are becoming more and more frequent among young people all over the world. Although many students are facing these issues, they are still not comfortable enough to openly share how they feel and offer support to each other. Mental illness shouldn’t be viewed any differently than other health problems and real measures need to be taken to spread the word about it and offer support to those in need.

Young people are suffering from high rates of unemployment, precarious and exploitative working conditions as well as discrimination in the labour market and the workplace. Recognition and validation of different skills obtained through internships, apprenticeships, social work, informal education is imperative for a better integration of people in the workforce. The lack of information and adequate skills for future employment puts a stop to the full inclusion of youth in the labor pool. Therefore measures need to be taken in order to ensure quality employment for all.
